A Component-Based Approach for Specifying Reusable Visual Languages

International audienceModel-Driven Engineering (MDE) encourages the use of graphical modeling tools, which facilitate the development process from modeling to coding. Such tools can be designed using the MDE approach into metamodeling environments called metaCASE tools. It turned out that current metaCASE tools still require, in most cases, manual programming to build full tool support for the modeling language, especially for users' native methodologies and representational elements and suffer from gaps in terms of reusability. In this context, we propose MID, a set of metamodels supporting the specification of modeling editors by means of reusable components and explain how representational metamodeling is carried out with it

Hepatitis C infection: eligibility for antiviral therapies

Background Current treatments of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) are effective, but expensive and susceptible to induce significant side effects. Objectives To evaluate the proportion of HCV patients who are eligible for a treatment. Methods In a database comprising 1726 viraemic HCV patients, the files of 299 patients who presented to the same hepatologist for an initial appointment between 1996 and 2003 were reviewed. Results Patients' characteristics were age 43.1 +/- 15.6 years, 53% male and 92% Caucasian. The main risk factors were transfusion (43%) and drug use (22%). Genotypes were mostly genotype 1 (66%), genotype 3 (12%) and genotype 2 (10%). These characteristics were not different from those of the whole series of 1726 patients. A total of 176 patients (59%) were not treated, the reasons for non-treatment being medical contraindications (34%), non-compliance (25%) and normal transaminases (24%). In addition, 17% of patients declined therapy despite being considered as eligible, mainly due to fear of adverse events. Medical contraindications were psychiatric (27%), age (22%), end-stage liver disease (15%), willingness for pregnancy (13%), cardiac contraindication (7%) and others (16%). Only 123 patients (41%) were treated. A sustained viral response was observed in 41%. The treatment was interrupted in 16% for adverse events. Conclusions The majority of HCV patients are not eligible for treatment. This implies that, with current therapies, only 17% of patients referred for chronic HCV become sustained responders. Some modifications of guidelines could extend the rate of treatment (patients with normal transaminases), but an important barrier remains the patients' and the doctors' fear of adverse events

    Phenylation of aminoindazole derivatives

AbstractThe triphenylbismuth diacetate reacted selectively with different aminoindazole derivatives in presence of copper diacetate to engender a new series of mono phenyl aminoindazole compounds in good to high yields. Moreover, the same reagent with 4-chloro-2-methyl-2H-indazol-7-amine led to a mixture of mono- and N,N-diphenylaminoindazoles. However, its combination with 2H-indazol-4-amine provided only one N,1-diphenylaminoindazole compound

Acoustic analysis and Modeling of the Group and phase Velocities of an Acoustic circumferential waves by an Adaptative Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS)

In this work, an Adaptative Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is applied to predict the velocity dispersion curves of the antisymmetric (A1) circumferential waves propagating around an elastic cooper cylindrical shell of various radius ratio b/a (a: outer radius and b: inner radius) for an infinite length cylindrical shell excited perpendicularly to its axis. The group and phase velocities, are determined from the values calculated using the eigenmode theory of resonances. These data are used to train and to test the performances of these models. This technique is able to model and to predict the group and phase velocities, of the anti-symmetric circumferential waves, with a high precision, based on different estimation errors such as mean relative error (MRE), mean absolute error (MAE) and standard error (SE). A good agreement is obtained between the output values predicted using ANFIS model and those computed by the eigenmode theory. It is found that the ANFIS networks are good tools for simulation and prediction of some parameters that carry most of the information available from the response of the shell. Such parameters may be found from the velocity dispersion of the circumferential waves, since it is directly related to the geometry and to the physical properties of the target

MID: A MetaCASE Tool For A Better Reuse Of Visual Notations

International audienceModeling tools facilitate the development process from modeling to coding. Such tools can be designed using a Model-Driven approach into metamodeling environments called metaCASE tools. It turned out that current metaCASE tools still require, in most cases, manual programming to build full tool support for the modeling language. First of all, we want to specify, using models, diagrams editors with a high graphical expressiveness without any need for manual intervention to perform this task. The second axis is dedicated to this specification reuse in other contexts of use. The redundancy of diagrams editors specification raises the problem of inconsistency during the evolution or the update of this specification. We propose then MID, a tool based on a set of meta-models supporting the easy specification of modeling editors with reusable components
